How Sip Craft Started

It started during the pandemic. Like a lot of people, Emma and Daniel found themselves stuck at home, missing their favorite coffee shops and cocktail bars. Instead of moping about it, they started experimenting. Emma dug into latte art and specialty coffee techniques. Daniel raided the liquor cabinet and started watching bartending tutorials at midnight. Within weeks, their kitchen counter looked like a small bar.

Friends on video calls kept saying "wait โ€” you made that at home?" So they started sharing recipes. First on Instagram stories, then on a blog. The response was overwhelming. Turns out, tons of people wanted to make beautiful, delicious drinks at home but didn't know where to start. That gap โ€” between wanting a craft drink and actually knowing how โ€” is exactly why Sip Craft exists.

Meet Emma

Emma is the coffee and non-alcoholic side of Sip Craft. She's a certified specialty coffee professional who spent two years working at a third-wave roastery in Seattle before going full-time on the blog. She develops the latte recipes, iced coffee creations, smoothies, wellness tonics, and alcohol-free cocktails. Her philosophy: a great drink is a small luxury anyone deserves, every single day. Outside the blog, she's usually at a local cafรฉ with a cortado, training for a 10K, or reorganizing her espresso equipment collection.

Meet Daniel

Daniel is the cocktails and spirits specialist. He studied mixology through the Bar Smarts program and has an almost concerning knowledge of obscure bitters. He creates the cocktail recipes, spirit guides, and seasonal drink menus. His focus is on making craft cocktails approachable โ€” using clear instructions, common ingredients, and techniques that don't require a 30-piece bar toolkit. When he's off-duty, you'll find him at farmers markets hunting for unique citrus, reading cocktail history books, or trying to convince Emma that their apartment needs a dedicated bar cart room.

Our Approach

  • Taste-tested, always. Every recipe is made at least three times before publishing. If it doesn't taste perfect, it doesn't go live.
  • Clear instructions. We write for beginners. If you can pour, stir, and shake, you can make any drink on this site.
  • Both sides of the bar. Cocktails AND non-alcoholic drinks. We believe everyone at the table deserves something special.
  • No gatekeeping. All recipes free, forever. No paywalls, no membership, no "download our premium PDF."

After Hours

Emma and Daniel are based in Seattle and spend their free time exploring the Pacific Northwest food scene โ€” from hole-in-the-wall tiki bars to third-wave coffee roasters in tiny towns. They host a monthly "drink lab" night where friends come over to test new recipe ideas (the brutal honesty policy is strictly enforced). When travel allows, they visit distilleries, tea farms, and coffee plantations to learn the craft from the source.
